Year 6 Chemistry Incursion

11.09.24

Today Year 6 engaged in an interactive chemistry session conducted by a scientist from Flinders University.  They explored the properties of dry ice and other materials, observed demonstrations and participated in group experiments.

The lesson started with a discussion on what makes things colourful, followed by the "Colours of the Rainbow" experiment. After a safety briefing, students investigated the properties of dry ice through experiments like the "Dry Ice Crystal Ball Bubble" and "Smoking Bubbles." They made predictions, carried out group experiments, and recorded their observations.

The lesson concluded with a group reflection on the experiments and scientific process, encouraging critical thinking and inquiry-based learning.
